Environmental Eyes of an Anthropomorphic World
2021 -> 2022

Bound paper, Mylar, Ink
6” x 9”, 106 pg.
Edition of 4

A work of speculative fiction, designed, compiled, and bound; this project is a field guide to surveillance cameras and surveillance camera-like devices. Organized into two main parts, this publication first describes a fictional timeline where surveillance cameras have been found to be sentient, intelligent beings, and the following cultural and societal baggage that arises with such a discovery. The writing itself takes the form of biological and ecological analysis, as one might expect to encounter in your standard field guide, textbook, or guide book. Not entirely departed from reality, the second section leaves speculative fiction behind, but uses a set of thematically similar arguments to analyze surveillance as a by-product of contemporary culture. In this complex story woven between the lines, one finds that surveillance is equally familiar as it is foreign.
